Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood and has its share of challenges, decisions and discoveries. It is a time of physical, psychological and social growth. UF Health Pediatrics – Jacksonville provides a wide range of services in adolescent medicine, striving to provide excellent and appropriate health care for this unique group of individuals.

Adolescent health issues that are evaluated and treated include:

• Chronic illnesses
• Contraception
• Drug use/abuse
• Eating disorders
• School failure
• Sexually transmitted infections
• Male genital complaints
• Menstrual disorders and menstrual management

• Vaginal irritation and infections

Education

The division provides pediatric residents from the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville department of pediatrics with one month of training in adolescent medicine.
