Welcome to the University of Florida Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education and Service, or UF CARES. The center is the only comprehensive pediatric and family-focused HIV and AIDS program in Northeast Florida and South Georgia. At UF CARES, located on the third floor of UF Health Jacksonville's Clinical Center building, we provide primary, secondary and tertiary care for HIV-exposed and infected individuals and families. In addition to basic medical care, the center provides medical case management, pharmacy services, health education, nutrition and mental health counseling. Our doctors are trained in general pediatrics and internal medicine with additional specialization in infectious diseases and women’s health. We also have a full time psychologist and part time psychiatrist and gynecologist who provide specialty services. We also work to provide services through collaborations and partnerships with Children's Medical Services.

Our trained and experienced medical case managers offer disease management for HIV and other diseases impacting our patients. Coordinated care planning is in concert with the physicians and nurse practitioners. A transitional program is available for pediatric and adolescent patients to enter adult care within the same location and with familiar staff with emphasis on health care navigation and self-management. The center has access to national research protocols which may make a patient eligible to participate in certain clinical studies and trials.

UF CARES is part of the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. The center serves as an HIV/AIDS education training site for the region.

For over 20 years, UF CARES has established itself as a leader in providing innovative care and quality services in the Jacksonville community. Through our multidisciplinary approach and strong collaborative network, the center is a one-stop program where patients receive majority of services in a single, coordinated visit. Our comprehensive team of adult and pediatric infectious disease physicians, advanced registered nurse practitioners, psychologist, nutritionist, educators, medical case managers and support staff continuously strive to provide quality services in a culturally competent patient centered care model.

Our web pages are designed to provide a comprehensive view of the center. Please contact us if you have any additional questions. Thank you for your interest — we hope you find our site both educational and interesting. We look forward to serving you.
