Hospital Pediatrics Top Matthew D. Garber, M.D. Chief The division of hospital pediatrics in the department of pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville coordinates hospital admission to the appropriate facility and provides inpatient pediatric medical care. Patient Care The division provides comprehensive medical care for infants and children of Northeast Florida in the inpatient (hospital) setting. Inpatient medical care is necessary when the severity of a child’s illness dictates that the evaluation and management be accomplished in a hospital setting. Our highly experienced pediatric hospitalists provide medical care at two inpatient locations (Wolfson Children's Hospital and UF Health Jacksonville). These physicians are dedicated solely to inpatient pediatric medical care. The pediatric hospitalists provide a quality inpatient care, with an assigned "hospitalist" following a patient from soon after admission until discharge. The hospitalist is responsible for over-seeing the various studies performed for evaluating the child, such as lab results, x-ray studies, procedures and specialist consultations. The hospitalist maintains a dialogue with the primary care physician about diagnostic evaluation and therapy throughout a child’s hospitalization. view division faculty More About Patient Care Services Research The University of Florida Health Science Center Jacksonville is committed to fostering research by the faculty and residents.
