The division of pediatric infectious diseases and immunology in the department of pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is dedicated to the prevention, detection and care of childhood infectious diseases.

Patient Care

UF Health Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Immunology – Jacksonville offers the only comprehensive pediatric infectious diseases services in Northeast Florida, including an innovative approach to prevent, detect, treat and research pediatric HIV and AIDS at the University of Florida Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education and Service (UF CARES).

Our division evaluates and manages the full spectrum of infectious diseases, including Kawasaki disease, immunodeficiency and pneumonia. Our inpatient services include consultations and admissions at Wolfson Children's Hospital. We also provide outpatient services at several locations across North Florida, including the Pediatric Multispecialty Center (next to Wolfson's Children's Hospital).

Our division is involved in the prevention, detection, treatment and research of pediatric HIV and aids at the University of Florida Center for HIV/AIDS Research, Education and Service (UF CARES).

Education

Our division sponsors the first three-year, ACGME-accredited pediatric infectious diseases fellowship program in the state of Florida. In addition, fellows from internal medicine infectious disease programs at the University of Florida and Mayo Clinic Jacksonville regularly rotate with us for the pediatric part of their training.

Research

The University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is committed to fostering research by the faculty and residents. This institution has been engaged in clinically applied research for many years and is enriched by the presence of faculty who have demonstrated excellence in performing research and in training new investigators.
