Goals and Objectives

The overall goal of the fellowship is to develop pediatricians to care for the growing population of medically complex children in the community. The program will teach not only the day to day medical home model but will expand the knowledge required of a community-based pediatrician including the interface related to insurance benefits, community resources, advocacy and grant-writing.

At the completion of the fellowship, the pediatrician will be prepared to care for children from a holistic perspective. The fellow will become well-versed in the social map of caring for a medically complex children including, but not limited to: durable medical equipment, prescribed pediatric extended care (medical daycares), private duty nursing and school entry.
