Mission and Aims Pediatrics Residency Mission Statement Our mission is to train pediatricians who will be competent in addressing the wellbeing and healthcare needs of all children, through excellence in clinical care, education, scholarship and community advocacy. Program Aims The aims for the pediatric residency are listed below: Train residents prepared to meet the unique needs of the populations they serve, not only as astute clinicians, but also as leaders through involvement in community service, advocacy and education. Train residents well equipped to practice value based, quality health care with hands on training in quality improvement and patient safety throughout residency. Educate learners who thrive in an environment of constant inquiry and are well versed in the basics of scholarship and research, given that fifty percent of our residents become community and general pediatricians (including hospital medicine), while the other half pursue subspecialty academic pathways. Foster a welcoming learning environment in which all residents can thrive and develop resilience, while experiencing excellent academic growth supported by evidence-based teaching, optimal supervision for level of training and a 360 degree evaluation and feedback process.
